It's that time of the year where a majority of people like to dress up, go out and socialise. But then there's another bunch who would rather sit at home with a tub of popcorn and feel like a good scare!

Here's to a devilishly spooky Halloween. Happy Trick-or-Treating!

It's Time for Some Serious Scares
Modern Masters

Robert Eggers and Ari Aster are considered true auteurs who have revived a genre that seemed to have lost its way. Here's a look at The Witch & Midsommar - two films that will chill you to the bone.

What's interesting is that both films have an A24 stamp - a distribution company that has a knack for identifying and putting out some of the most unique interesting cinematic projects.

Listen to the two in conversation on:

A freaky nightmare of a film that will haunt you for nights on end. The Anya Taylor-Joy starrer is a slow-burn, unconventional psychological horror film that ain't for the faint of heart.

Daytime horror at its finest. 'Midsommar' is by far one of the most unsettling films I have ever seen and that's saying something! P.S. Watch the Director's Cut if you can. There's a lot more footage and you'll get a better narrative arc that wraps things up nicely.

True Crime at its Horrific Best
The Title Says it All

True-Crime, as a genre, has exploded over the years. And it's only fitting to include some truly terrifying tales that have only recently been solved and taken to court.

I would like to recommend two of my all time favourite True-Crime mini-series - The Jinx & I'll Be Gone in The Dark.

You can catch both of them on HBO or on Disney+ Hotstar.

The Jinx: The Life & Deaths of Robert Durst | HBO
The Jinx: The Life & Deaths of Robert Durst | HBO
You absolutely must watch this spine-tingling show that arguably has one of the most earth shattering endings out there. Synopsis: The story delves into the strange history of real estate heir Robert Durst, long suspected in the still-unsolved 1982 disappearance of his wife as well as the subsequent murders of family friend Susan Berman and neighbour Morris Black.

Here's another gripping yet horrific tale that adapts the late Michelle McNamara's book with the same name. Synopsis: An exploration of the case of the Golden State Killer who terrorized California in the 1970s and 1980s, committing 50 sexual assaults and 10 murders, and true crime author Michelle McNamara's obsessive quest to find justice on behalf of his victims.
